Congratulations to retired JCS educator and Varsity Football Coach Greg Morrison on his induction into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2025! Coach Morrison coached the Comets' varsity football team from 1984-2005. In those twenty-two years his overall record was 137-67. His teams won eight league titles and qualified for the playoffs ten times. The induction ceremony is June 20, 2025. Congrats Coach Morrison!!

Athletic cancelations: The baseball and softball games schedule for today, April 7, with Napoleon have been canceled due to low temperatures. This is for both JV(away) and varsity(home) teams. The middle school home track meet tomorrow, April 8, with Hillsdale Academy has been canceled due to forecasted low temperatures. Any reschedule dates will be posted at jonesvillecomets.org.

The varsity baseball and softball DH in Jonesville for tomorrow, April 5, are canceled due to forecasted weather conditions. The forecasted rainfall amount of near a 1/2 inch for tonight plus the feel like temps during game times in the upper 30s are the reasons.

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Basketball Team and Coach Tom Dunn on winning the MHSAA District hosted at Homer. Last night the Lady Comets beat Onsted 55-46. With the win, the team advances to the Regionals that are hosted in Jonesville. We will play on Monday, March 10, at 5:30 against Blissfield. The second game will see Ypsilanti Arbor Prep take on Allen Park Cabrini at approximately 7:00. The championship game will be on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00. The theme for the Jonesville fans will be BLACK OUT. Comet Nation - come out and support the team and coaches! Per MHSAA guidelines, tickets must be purchased online through GoFan. No cash sales. No passes are accepted. Everyone needs a ticket except infants. Doors will open at 5:00 for spectators.

2025 Girls basketball regionals at Jonesville
The Jonesville Comet Trap Team registration is open until March 24th. Students will need to get on the website at www.mi.usaclaytarget.com. Click on "register now " to register. The team ID is joe156. After they register, Coach Eric Page will send them an invite to finish signing up for the team. Grades 6-12 are eligible and hunter safety is required. Congrats to the girls varsity basketball team and coaches on their win over Hudson last night in the MHSAA district semifinals at Homer High school. The team advances to tomorrow's district final at Homer where they will take on Onsted at 7:00. Per MHSAA guidelines, the tickets must be purchased on GoFan at a cost of $7 per ticket. Athletic competition update from the weekend: Boys bowling team at the MHSAA Team Tournament in Muskegon on Feb 28: The boys team made it to the state final match against Allen Park Cabrini. The boys did a great job but fell a little short to end as the runner ups. Congrats to Maverick Baker, Marshall Baker, Jag Lawrence, Kyle Covey, Jaren Trujillo, Alex Pickford, Andrew Sackett, the assistant coaches and to Head Coach Matt Molinaro for an awesome season and representing the community in a positive way! Girls bowling team at the MHSAA Team Tournament in Muskegon on Feb 28: The girls made it all the way to the final four where they fell to the eventual state champs, Ravenna. Congrats to Morgan Dilyard, Addison Luna, Zoe Woodruff, Harper James, Grace Maddox, Jenna Hadley , Haley Steveson, the assistant coaches and to Head Coach Matt Molinaro for an awesome season and representing the community in a positive way ! Jonesville had two wrestlers representing the Comets at Ford Field on Feb 28 for the MHSAA Individual State Finals. Ben Colbart went 1-2 on the day and Cooper Stevens also went 1-2 on the day. Congrats to each of the wrestlers, the assistant coaches and to head Coach Carter Ballinger for an great season and representing the community in a positive way. On March 1, it was Maverick Baker, Kyle Covey, Jaren Trujillo and Andre Sackett were in Muskegon for the MHSAA Individual Bowling State Finals. Jaren Trujillo and Andrew Sacket made the cut and had to bowl against each other. Andrew made it to the final and finished as runner-up! Congrats to all four boys and their coaches on a great season! Haley Steveson and Grace Maddox were also in Muskegon on March 1 for the MHSAA Individual Bowling State Finals. Both girls came up short and did not make the cut to top 8. Congrats to both girls and their coaches on a great season!

Athletic Department update: The short notice of this meeting is due to the final details for the MHSAA boys and girls basketball district and regional schedules. Spring Sports Pre-season meeting for all High School and Middle School students interested in playing a spring sport: On March 3 at 7:00pm in the high school gym there will be a meeting for all athletes and their parents/guardians. The meeting will take less than an hour. The meeting will start out with new updates to the athletic handbook and certain points of emphasis. The athletic trainer will also be there as he discusses the protocols and procedures that need to be followed. We will finish up with each athlete attending a sport specific meeting with the coaching staff of that sport to go over program expectations and schedules. FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SPRING SPORTS IS MARCH 10. FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK IS MARCH 31. More congratulations for our bowling teams and coaches! The teams produced six team members who earned a trip to next week's Individual State Finals! Bowlers who placed in the the top seven advance. For the boys, senior Andrew Sackett placed 2nd, junior Kyle Covey placed 3rd, freshman Maverick Baker placed 4th and senior Jaren Trujillo placed 7th to advance to the finals. Junior Marshall Baker finished in 9th. For the girls, senior Haley Steveson placed 4th and sophomore Grace Maddox placed 7th to advance to the finals. Freshman Morgan Dilyard finished in 8th. Both teams will travel to Muskegon's Northway Lanes on Feb 28 for the team finals and March 1 for individual finals. Great job coaches and athletes!! Go Comets!

Both teams won the MHSAA Division 4 Regional Team Tournament at M66 Bowl in Battle Creek today! Athletic Department updates: As the winter sport seasons come to an end, the varsity teams will continue to compete in their MHSAA and end of season tournaments. For wrestling, senior Cooper Stevens qualified in the 285 pound class for the MHSAA State Individual Finals by taking 1st place at the regionals held Saturday in Leslie. Senior Ben Colbart also qualified with his 3rd place finish. Both Comet wrestlers will compete in the Individual State Finals at Ford Field in Detroit Feb 28 - March 1. For competitive cheer, the Comets qualified for the MHSAA cheer regionals by placing 3rd in the cheer district we held last Friday by earning their highest scores of the year. The team will travel to Michigan Center on Saturday to compete in the Regionals. Competition starts at 10:00am at Michigan Center High School. For bowling, the boys team won the Cascades Conference title Saturday at Jax 60. The girls team just missed the conference title and finished in 2nd. Sunday was the Individual Conference tournament. For the boys, Kyle Covey qualified third, Andrew Sackett sixth and Marshall Baker ninth. For the girls, Addison Luna qualified fourth, Haley Steveson sixth, and ninth for Grace Maddox. This Friday the teams travel to M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek for the MHSAA Regional Team Tournament and then head back there Saturday for the Individual Tournament. The JV individual champ was Carson Stukey, Seth DEboe was third, Chance Lucas fifth, Cory Steveson sixth, James Dow seventh, and Chance Murphy 8th. for the girls, Ella Kramer was third and Priya Ramasamy was sixth. The boys basketball team will play their MHSAA district tournament in Hudson next week. The team will play in Hudson on Feb 26 at 7:00 against Hillsdale in the semifinals. The girls basketball teams play today at Columbia Central. The varsity hosts Lumen Christi on Thursday for a varsity only game at 6:00. The final details for the Cascades crossover game are still undecided as tonight's conference games will determine if we play Friday or Saturday. The regular season will conclude next week . Districts will be played March 3, 5, 7 in Homer, but no final details will be available until Sunday. Per MHSAA guidelines, all tickets for their events need to be purchased through GoFan. Athletic Department update: The new varsity baseball coach for Jonesville High School will be Brian Stroble. Coach Stroble served as the JV coach last year and has held numerous head coaching jobs in the district throughout his 23 year teaching career at JCS . Go Comets!

Athletic Department updates: The competitive cheer team hosts the MHSAAS District tonight with a 6:00 start time. Per MHSAA, tickets must be purchased on GoFan. There will be 13 teams competing. The Comets have four wrestlers heading to individual regionals tomorrow in Leslie looking to earn a trip to the state finals. Good luck to Blake Ryan, Ben Colbart, Carson Playford, and Cooper Stevens. Wrestling starts at 9:30. Both bowling teams are in first place in Cascades West Division as they head to the conference meets this weekend. The conference team finals are Saturday and the conference individual finals are on Sunday. Both events are at JAX 60 with a 9:00 am start. Go Comets!
